World business summit on climate change Copenhagen, 2009

KPMG har tillsammans med The Economist Intelligence Unit, identifierat de tre nyckelelementen som måste vara uppfyllda för att det stundande Köpenhamnsmötet ska bli en framgång:
- Developed economies will have to agree to major cuts in emissions
- Developing economies will have to limit future emissions
- Developed economies will have to lend a helping hand in terms of finance and technology
Detta framkommer bland annat i den KPMG-sponsrade rapporten " World business summit on climate change Copenhagen, 2009" som tagits fram av The Economist Intelligence Unit.
Fler än 500 företagsledare från hela världen samlades i Köpenhamn i maj 2009 för att ta fram rekommendationer inför de kommande globala klimatförhandlingarna i december 2009 som sammankallas av FN:s Klimatkonvention.
Vid slutet av mötet presenterades sex steg, vilka omnämns "The Copenhagen call", för den danska stadsministern Lars Løkke Rasmussen och Yvo de Boer, generalsekreterare för FN:s Klimatkonvention (UNFCCC). De sex stegen identifierades som absolut nödvändiga för att lyfta fram klimatförändringar och dess potentiella inverkan på affärslivet.
- Agreement on a science-based greenhouse gas stabilization path with 2020 and 2050 emissions reduction targets
- Effective measurement, reporting and verification of emissions
- Incentives for a dramatic increase in financing low emissions technologies
- Deployment of existing low emissions technologies and the development of new ones
- Funds to make communities more resilient and able to adapt to the effects of climate change
- Innovative means to protect forests and balance the carbon cycle
